Gambit suffer surprising defeat at V4 Future Sports Festival
The #3 team in the world will now have to fight their way through the dangerous lower bracket.
The top-seed at the newly-started V4 Future Sports Festival has just been battered in the opening round, as Gambit fall short to the Bulgarians from Fiend in a one-sided best-of-one series. The Group A opener was played on Dust2, being one of Gambit’s best map statistically, where they haven’t lost a map in the last 3 months.
Despite, the massive favourite role for Gambit, it was Fiend who shined the most and the underdogs looked like a real top-tier team. Through a near-flawless CT-side by Kamen “bubble” Kostadinov and his troops, they managed to set up an impressive 10-5 lead, which they rounded off with a like-wise potent T-side. The 16-9 loss means that Gambit is being sent down in the lower bracket, where they will meet the loser of BIG vs. eSuba.
