Frenchmen defeat G2 to qualify for Shanghai Major
3DMAX will be the first fully French lineup at a Counter-Strike Major in over three years.
3DMAX is ready for the $1.25 million Major in Shanghai next month.
The French squad sealed their place in the tournament by defeating the star-studded G2 lineup this Friday, capping off an impressive campaign at Europe RMR B in China.
The hard-fought 2-1 victory over Nikola “NiKo” Kovac and his team not only guarantees 3DMAX a coveted Major spot but also secures them a direct berth into the Elimination Stage, skipping the tournament's opening round.
In today’s matchup, G2 seized early control with a commanding 13-5 victory on 3DMAX’s map pick, Anubis, firmly establishing themselves as favourites in the series.
However, their momentum faltered when it mattered most. G2 stumbled badly on their own pick, Dust2, suffering an unexpected 13-6 defeat as 3DMAX mounted a brilliant response to even the series.
The final map on Ancient seemed to be slipping away from 3DMAX, as G2 edged close to victory with an 11-8 lead. Yet, the French squad refused to back down, delivering an inspired performance with five consecutive CT rounds to secure the map and the series, clinching their spot at the Major in dramatic fashion.
