Falcons and FaZe ready for semi-finals at IEM Katowice
The home crowd buff was not enough for ENCE in the quarter-finals in Poland.
A new champion will be crowned in Katowice this weekend after G2 fell short in their quarter-final match against FaZe. Nikola "NiKo" Kovač and Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov both failed to make a great impact on the game, which FaZe quickly took control over. Finn "karrigan" Andersen’s troops looked refreshed on the server and could be a good pick for the winner of the tournament if they continue the playoff form that they showed against G2.
In the other quarter-final, the home crowd favorites from ENCE got off to a rough start. On Mirage it was Falcons domination from start to end. A bit of a downer for the enthusiastic audience who had waited eight years to see a Polish team in the Spodek Arena again. Luckily for them and ENCE, Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander’s team found their way back into the match on Overpass, where Aleksander "hades" Miskiewicz wielded his AWP to excellent use for ENCE, who won the map 13-9.
On Nuke Falcons turned on again and looked like they were going to take home the map in a dominant fashion. ENCE however gave everything in the end to keep the dream alive in Spodek, but at the finish line, they lost 13-11 in an exciting ending to the first day of playoffs in Katowice.
