Early elimination! Falcons crash out despite s1mple’s brilliance
s1mple and Falcons have been eliminated as the first team at the online tournament Thunderpick World Championships.
Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev did everything he could, but the patient was clearly unsavable today.
The "patient" in question is Falcons - the Ukrainian AWPer’s new team - which has just been eliminated from the Thunderpick World Championship, finishing dead last.
The Danny “zonic” Sørensen-led squad suffered their second defeat of the day on Monday evening, falling 2-0 to Virtus.pro. Despite high expectations surrounding s1mple’s much-anticipated return to competitive play, Falcons' performance ultimately fell short, marking a disappointing start for the new roster.
However, it would be unfair to lay the blame on s1mple. The superstar AWPer was the standout performer for Falcons, heavily carrying his teammates in both matches. Unfortunately, his individual brilliance couldn’t turn the tide, leaving the team’s shortcomings painfully exposed.
Below is a breakdown of player ratings from the event, illustrating the significant gap between s1mple and the rest of his teammates:
s1mple – 1.17 rating
Snappi – 0.89 rating
Magisk – 0.82 rating
Maden – 0.73 rating
dupreeh – 0.62 rating
s1mple officially joined Falcons last month on a three-month loan deal, where the Ukrainian superstar replaced the former ENCE AWPer Alvaro "SunPayus" Garcia.
Falcons' next tournament will be this week's ESL Challenger Katowice.
