dupreeh stars in Heroic win at Roobet Cup
The legendary Dane helped his new team to a win against all odds.
An hour before the start of Heroic's match against Aurora at Roobet Cup 2023, the news broke about the benching of both Martin "stavn" Lund and Jakob "jabbi" Nygaard. A move that prompted Heroic to field the two Danish MOUZ NXT players, William "sirah" Kjærsgaard and Christoffer "Chr1zN" Storgaard as last-minute replacements on the roster.
While Heroic may have known about the situation a couple of days before, there was no way that the mixed group of Danes now representing Heroic could be prepared as usual, as they entered the server yesterday against Aurora.
Nonetheless Heroic ended up winning the match 2-1 against the CIS team. Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen made his debut and instantly showcased why he is the Counter-Strike player with the most Major titles in history. The former Astralis and Vitality player led his team to overtime on the first map of Overpass. Here Heroic lost narrowly 14-16.
Overpass was Heroic's pick, which made it an uphill battle to win the match, to say the least. But Aurora picked Nuke as the next map, which might not have been the greatest idea against a random Danish 5 stack. The new Heroic roster won both halves to force the match onto Mirage as the decider. A great T-side for Heroic made the difference and swung the match in the favor of the five Danes. Aurora on the other hand can only be disappointed with their effort. They will never get a better chance to beat Heroic.
The three other matches at Roobet Cup also went the distance. You van see the results of Day 1 down below.
