Disputed map sees least action at the Shanghai Major
Should Valve consider making changes to the competitive map pool?
You can say many things about Vertigo, but one thing remains consistent: the map never fails to spark heated debates about its flaws and its place in the competitive map pool.
What’s also undeniable is its lack of popularity among the top Counter-Strike teams. When captains and coaches are set to pick the maps to be played before a match, Vertigo is nearly always overlooked.
This trend has continued at the ongoing Perfect World Shanghai Major, where statistics from the Opening and Elimination Stages show that Vertigo was only played nine times during the two stages.
Even over the course of 2024, Vertigo has been the least played map among the top Counter-Strike teams on LAN, with only 295 appearances.
To put this in perspective, Dust2—reintroduced to the map pool in April—has already surpassed Vertigo despite being absent for nearly half the year.
