cxzi cut from Strife mid-series - allegedly drunk during MIBR match
The North-American player was cut from Strife mid-series due to alcohol suspicions
North-American CS:GO is not in the greatest of places at this current moment of time with Liquid falling down in the official HLTV-rankings. Another NA-team that is currently facing troubles is Strife, however, due to very different circumstances. When facing MIBR earlier today in the ESL Challenger League Season 40 North America event, a very suspicious picture regarding one of the Strife players began to take form.
Danny "cxzi" Strzelczyk joined the Strife roster almost 2 months ago, however, when playing against MIBR he looked nothing like himself in-game. From early on in the Bo3-series, his teammates at Strife began to gain suspicion that something was going on, and as teammate "J0LZ" messaged "stamina" he either: "just got back from a dentist appointment and couldn't use his face, or he was drunk".
This very poor and strange performance from "cxzi" on Overpass, managing only five kills and a 0.45 HLTV-rating, led Strife to make an instantaneous decision. In the break between maps one and two, it was decided by the North-American team to remove "cxzi" mid-series. He was replaced by "AAustiN" as an emergency stand-in.
After the match against it MIBR it has since been confirmed that "cxzi" had in fact consumed alcohol leading up to the match. Stating that he had consumed five drinks between 2:00 PM and 4:30 PM local time, the ex-Strife player maintains that he was not inebriated at the time of match (17.00 pm).
Having already stated that Strife will continue their season without "cxzi" as part of their roster, a new replacement was needed very quickly. To fill the shoes of "cxzi" is 17-year-old Matthew "D4rtyMontana" Paplawskas, who has been brought into the active line-up of Strife. The active Strife line-up is currently as follows:
Keller "SLIGHT" Nilan
David "J0LZ" Jolin
Bobby "stamina" Eitrem
Paul "aris" Wilson
Matthew "D4rtyMontana" Paplawskas
