Counter-Strike legend f0rest announces retirement from Counter-Strike
End of an era.
Swedish esports icon Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg has announced his retirement from competitive Counter-Strike, bringing an end to a glorious career that spanned almost 20 years.
In an interview with HLTV, f0rest confirmed his decision to step away from professional play, sharing both his pride and relief in putting this chapter behind him.
- When I first thought about it, I felt sad. But looking back, I'm very, very proud. I'm super happy with the journey I've done with my teammates and all the trophies we've done, all the travels I've done. It also feels like it's good to put a closure on that, to put a bit of ease on my mind.
- Going around thinking that you might play is not always the best for your mental health, I feel. Like, always hoping, hoping, hoping. I feel like now that I have closed this chapter, now I move forward, f0rest says to HLTV.
f0rest was a part of NIP's Major-winning roster from ESL One Cologne in 2014
f0rest’s legacy in Counter-Strike is unparalleled. He began his career in Counter-Strike 1.6, where he quickly rose to stardom thanks to his exceptional aim and game sense.
As the scene transitioned to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, f0rest remained a dominant force, racking up countless accolades and earning respect from fans and peers alike. His career included numerous tournament victories and MVP titles, solidifying his place as one of the game’s greatest players.
Following today’s announcement, Ninjas in Pyjamas – the organization f0rest represented for over eight years – revealed that he will return to the org as a brand ambassador and content creator.
