Complexity barely pulling ahead on ESL rankings before invites
Complexity clinches the spot ahead of BIG by 2 points to qualify them for the next $500.000 event in December.
Four teams have been invited to the IEM Global Challenge based on their positions in the ESL world ranking and the spots got filled by the highest-ranked NA, EU, and CIS squads.
Complexity managed to get the last EU invite over BIG and will be joining next to Astralis, Natus Vincere, and Evil Geniuses from the ESL ranking. NAVI were guaranteed a spot in the event regardless of the grand final result as the standout team in CIS, while Evil Geniuses joined tournament winners Chaos and FURIA from NA as Liquid missed out.
The $500.000 competition will be held on December 15-20, starting with a double-elimination bo3 group stage, which will lead to a single-elimination bo3 playoff stage and bo5 grand final.
The eight teams that will compete at the IEM Global Challenge are:
Astralis
Natus Vincere
FURIA
Evil Geniuses
Vitality
Heroic
Complexity
Chaos
