Brollan and Swedish mix lack $25k prize win: “Embarrassing behavior”
Tournament winnings of over $25.000 have not been paid out after a tournament on Esportal found its winners.
In July, the tournament ‘ByBit CS:GO Open’ was played on the Esportal, which saw many Swedish profiles participating. The winners of the tournament ended up being Adam “WolfY” Andersson, Robin “robin” Sjögren, Hannes “hns” Johansson, Peppe “Peppzor” Borak, Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin, and Jack “Jackinho” Ström Mattsson, however, all the players didn’t receive their earnings from the tournament. The prize money which should have been €5.250 and $24.000 worth of NFT’s, didn’t get paid out to the players.
According to the tournament organizers from Esportal, ByBit didn’t keep their part of the agreement regarding the prizes, resulting in the players being left behind with nothing from their earnings. In an official statement on their website, Esportal revealed that they will continue to chase ByBit, but with the company being registered in Singapore, it makes everything much more difficult.
“ByBit has not paid out the promised NFT’s and has chosen to not communicate with us. Given that ByBit is registered in Singapore, the process of forcing them to fulfill their commitments has been more difficult than expected. We would like to point out once again that we will continue to work on ByBit completing the payments to both the winning team and us as partners, but at the moment we cannot say if or when this will happen.” – Esportal via their statement.
One of the winners of the tournament, robiin, posted a TwitLonger post on Wednesday, in which he expressed his frustration with both Esportal and ByBit.
“Esportal is claiming that they did everything for months to get in touch with ByBit and get things sorted, but I really doubt this. They gave us no information for months, I messaged the contacts we had been given several times, sometimes several times a week and they were never able to answer any of our questions regarding when we would get our prizes. After 90 days, I messaged Martin instead who apparently had no clue about what was going on and had no clue why no one had updated us during these 90 days.” – robiin wrote in his TwitLonger post.
Esportal has promised they would try to reach ByBit through their other partners, informing they would take legal action if they did not get in touch with them anytime soon. This was supposed to be two weeks ago, but nothing more has happened since then.
