BIG move past FaZe after intense thriller

FaZe seemed disjointed when battling against the German-based BIG roster

Yet another exciting Bo1-series was on the cards when BIG and FaZe locked horns. On paper, FaZe were the favorites going into the Bo1-series, however, you are never to count out the efficient Germans of BIG. Both teams have experienced slight difficulties as of late and seemed eager to prove themselves against an equally scary opponent. Despite a close showing of skill on the map of Mirage, FaZe’s individuals were simply not enough to take down the well-oiled machine that is the BIG roster. The victory means that BIG are now one step closer to the upper final of Group B.

The map the two teams decided on came to be Mirage, a map that facilitates great aim-duels and individual powerplays. Going into the series, things had looked kind of rough for the star-studded FaZe roster, however, a win against BIG could be exactly what they need to find momentum once again. It was BIG to start the Bo1-series the strongest on their T-side. Due to miraculous plays from “tabseN” and “k1to”, the German-based roster pulled together the majority of rounds in the first half of Mirage. Despite an incredible showing of skill from both “broky” and “Twistzz” it was BIG to secure a 9-6 lead going into the second half. The second half saw a more aggressive approach from the, now T-sided, FaZe roster. Catching BIG by surprise, it seemed, they quickly nullified their lead from the first half. Not long after, however, BIG stepped up once again and rounds were exchanged back and forth. Ultimately, overtime was needed for the Bo1-series to find a conclusion. With confidence from winning the final rounds of regulation time, BIG silenced FaZe in OT and took home Mirage at 19-17.

IEM Winter 2021 overview – GODSENT vs Heroic (1-0)

Whilst BIG and FaZe were busy with their brawl on Mirage, another Bo1-series took place within the event – a battle between Heroic and GODSENT. Just like the Bo1-series between BIG and FaZe it also took place on Mirage. Heroic were, of course, the heavy favorites going into the Bo1-series, however, GODSENT proved that they are no joke. A close first half was built upon by the Brazilians as they began the second half. Catching Heroic by surprise, they managed to post an incredible upset and take home the Bo1-series at the scoreline of 16-13.

16-13 (Mirage) | stavn – 1.53 Rating / 27-21 K-D / 110.0 ADR
