Australians demotes 26-year-old AWPer
FlyQuest allegedly wants to sign an international AWPer going into 2025.
FlyQuest has decided to remove Alistair “aliStair” Johnston from the active roster, the organization revealed this Thursday.
The decision comes less than a week after a disappointing run at the Shanghai Major, where the Australian squad failed to secure a single Bo3 victory.
According to HLTV, FlyQuest is shifting focus toward recruiting an international AWPer, signaling a move away from its all-Australian lineup.
“Toughest year in my career”
The benching of aliStair may not come as the biggest surprise for many. Looking at the individual statistics in FlyQuest, the 26-year-old sniper ranks at the very bottom throughout 2024, despite wielding the much-important AWP role.
In a post on X, aliStair also acknowledges that 2024 has been extremely challenging for him personally.
- This year will definitely go down as the toughest year I’ve ever faced in CS. Not making the first major of CS2 and going through a slump strengthened me and made me search for answers to rebuild and get better.
- I truly believe exiting this year, I have the best mentality I’ve ever had and a better outlook on how I should approach competition. This is not the end for me in Counter Strike and I’m grateful for my time with the gents I’ve got to play and grow with, aliStair wrote.
