apEX: Nobody can replace Magisk
Big shoes to fill for William "mezii" Merriman ahead of his debut at BLAST Premier Fall Final this week.
Vitality lost their Danish star rifler Emil “Magisk” Reif earlier this season when it was revealed that he was to depart the team to reportedly join Falcons. The 25-year-old leaves the ship after nearly two years of service and Major trophy in his bag.
We spoke with Vitality’s in-game leader Dan “apEX” Madesclaire at the media day for BLAST Fall Final in Copenhagen, where we asked him about the departure of Magisk and his successor William “mezii” Merriman.
- No one can replace Magisk nowadays. He’s one, if not the best anchor in the world and he has a really special role on T-side. A guy like Magisk is taking some space in the team with his voice and everything. Now I just expect flameZ and also mezii to step up more – not as much as Magisk – but to find their place together.
- As I said mezii is not exactly like Magisk. He has a lot of different roles, but I think it’s a good fit. He has played under Fnatic in a big mess for a long time. He’s been in-game leading, changing roles left and right, so I think it will be good for him here.
