9Pandas snatch last European spot at PGL Copenhagen Major
The Russian team defeated the Grand Finalists from the last Major, GamerLegion, in the last match of the Last Chance Qualifier.
In a three-map-thriller match between GamerLegion and 9Pandas, it was the latter team triumphed securing their spot at the first CS2 Major in history.
The Russian roster that defeated Astralis in the opening round of the last-chance qualifier had to fight their way back into the match after losing the first map in overtime. But on both Ancient and Nuke it was two excellent first halves that gave 9Pandas the momentum to win the maps. Nuke ended as a real thriller with GamerLegion almost making a comeback from being 9-3 down in the half. In the end, it was Aleksandr 'glowiing' Matsievich that proved to be the big difference between the two teams on Nuke and in the match in general with a superb performance on all three maps.
For Denis 'seized' Kostin it will be the first Major in six years after he played his last Major in 2018. The former NAVI player has played 12 Majors in his career so far, while the rest of the 9Pandas roster will make their debuts at a Major. For GamerLegion the loss will be tough to comprehend after they made it all the way to the Grand Final at the last CS:GO Major in Paris.
9Pandas join these teams at the Major in Copenhagen:
From Group A: Virtus.pro, G2, NAVI, FaZe, KOI, Eternal Fire, SAW, AMKAL
