The MongolZ stun G2 and qualify for the StarLadder Budapest Major playoffs

The MongolZ took down G2 in a dominant 2-0 victory and punched their ticket to the playoffs, while G2 now face a brutal do or die matchup tomorrow against Team Falcons.

The final match of Day 3 at Stage 3 delivered another headline. The MongolZ took down G2 in a dominant 2-0 victory and punched their ticket to the playoffs, while G2 now face a brutal do or die matchup tomorrow against Team Falcons.

The result came as an upset. The MongolZ have been strong throughout 2025, but the recent benching of Azbayar “Senzu” Munkhbold raised plenty of eyebrows.

Many questioned if the Mongolian squad could maintain their level with the relatively unknown Unudelger “controlez” Baasanjargal stepping into the lineup. So far the answer looks very clear. This roster move has not slowed them down in Budapest at all.

Across the Swiss stage The MongolZ have already taken out FaZe and Liquid, and tonight they added G2 to the list. Ancient ended 13-4, Dust2 ended 13-6, and the match never felt close. The broadcast team described G2 as absolutely outclassed, a fair summary of how one sided the series became.

Controlez delivered his best performance of the tournament so far with a 1.37 rating and looked fully at home on the Major stage. He now prepares for a playoff run that starts on Thursday, while G2 must regroup quickly before facing Falcons in a win or go home match tomorrow.
