The Major will also be the first CS2 event of this scale to be held in China, making it the perfect platform to promote the game to a new audience.

Twenty-four teams have progressed from the regional qualifiers to book a spot at the showpiece, which will take place from November 30 to December 15.

A prize pool of $1.25 million is on the line and whichever team emerges victorious will take home a winner’s cheque worth a cool $500,000.

The Major will undoubtedly attract plenty of attention from the betting community, and our guide will walk you through everything you need to know about wagering on the event.

Shanghai Major 2024 – Tournament Structure

The Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 will be played in three stages – the opening stage, the elimination stage and the play-off stage.

Opening Stage: November 30 – December 3

The opening stage kicks off with 16 teams playing in a Swiss System format.

Each team will square off in a best-of-three format to earn a spot in the elimination stage. But after that, it will be replaced by a knockout system – lose and you are out.

The top eight teams from the opening stage will advance to the elimination phase, while the bottom eight are sent packing.

Elimination Stage: December 5-8

The elimination stage follows an identical format as the opening stage. The top eight from the opening stage join another eight teams compete in a Swiss System format for a play-off spot.

A best-of-three system will decide who advances and who gets eliminated, but every other series will follow a best-of-one format. The top eight teams will advance to the play-offs.

Play-off Stage: December 12-15

The play-off stage operates under the single-elimination bracket, with all matches following a best-of-three format.
