NIP secure playoff spot in Astana as G2 and VP lose out

The playoff bracket is now set at the $1.25 million tournament.

After five days of thrilling Counter-Strike at PGL Astana, the group stage has come to an end, confirming the eight teams that will move on to the playoffs.

Claiming the final three spots are Ninjas in Pyjamas, Aurora, and MIBR, who each won their do-or-die matchups on Wednesday. They now join The MongolZ, Spirit, NAVI, Astralis, and FURIA in the quarterfinals.

For NIP, this marks a significant achievement and milestone for the Snappi-led squad — not only is it their first top-tier playoff appearance this year, it also comes at their very first top-tier event of 2025.

Disappointments

Among the teams that fell short before the finish line are two big names in G2 and Virtus.pro. Both teams were eliminated after losing their final group stage matches, resulting in a disappointing exit from the $1.25 million tournament.

Today’s results at PGL Astana

  • NIP vs G2 2-0
  • Aurora vs ODDIK 2-0
  • MIBR vs Virtus.pro 2-1

Exciting quarterfinals ahead

With the group stage concluded, the playoff bracket has now been revealed — and it’s shaping up to be an exciting one.

There’s a classic rivalry match between NAVI and Astralis, and a Brazilian showdown between MIBR and FURIA.

The remaining matchups will see The MongolZ take on Aurora, while Spirit go up against NIP. All quarterfinals will be played at the Barys Arena in Astana, Kazakhstan.
