IEM Katowice lost 30% of viewers compared to last year

IEM Katowice 2023 is set and over with G2 being victories. 24 teams from the world’s elite fought their absolute best for a chance to lift the prestige full trophy in the hall of heroes. The IEM Katowice 2023 was a tournament with surprises, upsets, and insane plays that gathered people from around the world. But, what seemed to be a successful tournament is now on the run to be a disappointment compared to last year’s event when looking at the viewership.

According to esports charts, IEM Katowice had an average viewer number of 234.000 throughout the entire event. The Grand final match between the world’s number two in Heroic and the world’s number one G2 was of course the most popular match of the event, attracting 712.000 peak viewers. However, when you compare the IEM Katowice 2023 with the previous IEM Katowice events the viewership has decreased by almost 30%. IEM Katowice 2023 has fallen far behind IEM Katowice 2022.

A win at IEM Katowice 2023 was the second major success for G2 in just 3 months. Back in December 2022 G2 also managed to win the BLAST Premier World Finals where the team took home a stunning $500.000 in prize money.
