After the finals of PGL Bucharest Masters 2025 between Aurora and Legacy, X-user Ozzny posted a tweet tagging the official Counter-Strike X-profile, asking for the Major Grand Finals to be changed to Bo5.
The Counter-Strike X-profile replied to the tweet almost teasing the possibility of the Major Grand Finals becoming Bo5.
The final itself was intense, with Legacy nearly pulling off a reverse sweep against Aurora, but Aurora narrowly closed out the final map 13–11 to claim their first trophy as an organization. Additionally, this was the first LAN trophy for four of the team’s five players, as XANTARES, Wicadia, jottAAA, and MAJ3R all lifted their first title.
Community support
Since the release of Counter-Strike 2 and the switch from MR15 to MR12, much of the community has voiced support for changing the Major Grand Final to a Bo5 format.
All major tournament organizers such as PGL, BLAST, and ESL already use Bo5 grand finals in their events, resulting in some of the best matches of 2025. Those series have fueled the community’s push for Valve to adopt the same format for the Majors.
Below, we’ve gathered some of the community’s thoughts on the Major Grand Final being Bo3 instead of Bo5.
