BLAST moves big event from Mexico to Denmark

Mexico will have to wait a little longer to get its chance to host at top-tier Counter-Strike event.

BLAST has confirmed that the upcoming BLAST Rivals Season 1 will no longer be held in Monterrey, Mexico.

Instead, the $350,000 tournament will now take place at BLAST’s studio facilities in Copenhagen, Denmark, meaning the event will be played without a live audience.

The decision comes as a result of what BLAST called “unforeseen logistical challenges.”

– We remain incredibly excited about the Rivals format and are committed to delivering an unforgettable experience for players and fans alike. While we won’t be in Mexico this time, we look forward to returning in the near future, BLAST added in a statement.

BLAST Rivals Season 1 is scheduled to run from April 30 to May 4, featuring eight teams – though the full lineup has yet to be announced.

Four teams will be invited based on their VRS ranking, while the remaining spots are given to a wildcard team from Europe, Asia, North America and South America.
