Massive Octane buffs arriving in Season 27

Octane has long been a fan favorite in Apex Legends but as the game evolved his kit began to feel a bit outdated compared to newer movement legends. To address this Respawn Entertainment is introducing a massive set of buffs in Season 27 designed to make the adrenaline junkie a top tier pick once again. These changes focus on improving his survivability and increasing his utility during fast paced team engagements.

Reworked passive and tactical abilities

The core of Octane’s gameplay is the risk and reward of trading health for speed. In Season 27 this balance is being adjusted to favor the player much more heavily. His passive and tactical abilities have received significant upgrades to ensure he can stay in the fight longer.

  • Swift Mend passive: Octane now heals more effectively the less health he has. His base healing has increased to 3 HPS and can scale all the way up to 9 HPS when he is at low health.
  • Stim tactical: While under the effects of Stim Octane can now sprint and use consumables simultaneously.
  • Cooldown and speed: The time before he can reuse his Stim has been slashed from 1.8 seconds down to just 0.7 seconds and the overall speed boost has been increased by an additional 5%.

These changes mean that Octane can move faster more frequently and recover from his self inflicted damage much quicker than ever before. The ability to use meds while sprinting makes him incredibly difficult to catch during a chase.

Ultimate JumpPad gains base kit improvements

The JumpPad is one of the most iconic ultimate abilities in the game and in Season 27 it is becoming even more versatile. Several features that were previously locked behind the perk system have now been incorporated directly into Octane’s base kit.

  • Base kit additions: Mad Hops and Aerial Agility are now standard features of the JumpPad.
  • Double charges: Octane now starts with two JumpPad charges allowing for rapid repositioning of the entire squad.
  • Immediate use: JumpPads are now useable immediately after they hit the ground removing the awkward delay that previously existed.

By moving these movement perks into the base kit Octane players now have much more freedom to choose their evolution upgrades without sacrificing the core power of their ultimate.

Four new perks added to the evolution tree

With several old perks moving to the base kit Respawn has introduced four brand new perks to replace them. These upgrades allow players to customize Octane’s playstyle to be either a more effective solo duelist or a stronger team player.

Perk NameDescription of Effect
Thick SkinStim costs 10 less health to use per activation.
Squad RushTeammates who use the JumpPad gain a Stim boost on land.
DaredevilFaster reload on shield cracks and increased Stim Surge duration at low HP.
Triple JumpGrants a third jump while in the air after using a JumpPad.

The Triple Jump perk is expected to be a game changer for high level movement tech allowing Octane to navigate vertical environments with unprecedented control. Meanwhile Squad Rush turns Octane into a powerful offensive support legend by giving his entire team a speed boost during a coordinated push.
