Ash Dash Nerfed & Alter Fix Now Live

Respawn has pushed a small live update to Apex Legends, making two important balance adjustments that affect Ash and Alter. The changes are now active on all platforms.

Live changes

  • Alter: Downed Nexus Teleport now works as intended.
  • Ash: Dash speed reduced by approximately 30%, depending on factors such as whether she is in the air, grounded, or her current movement direction.

Developer commentary

According to Respawn’s official post, Ash has been “dominant for much of the year”, following the addition of her Dash passive and improvements to her core abilities.

While previous updates increased cooldowns and adjusted parts of her kit, the developer admitted that these tweaks were not enough to bring her power level back in line with other Legends.

Developer Note:

“We’ve been trying to bring her back down to earth through a series of balance changes over the last few months, but have been reluctant to touch the dash passive’s speed or distance since so many players are having fun with it.

This latest change finally adjusts the speed of her dash, as data shows that reducing other aspects of her kit wasn’t enough to balance her against the rest of the roster.”

The goal of this nerf is to retain the fun and mobility of Ash’s playstyle while lowering her ability to escape or engage too effectively compared to other Skirmisher Legends.

What this means for players

Ash mains will immediately notice a slower dash animation and reduced travel speed, but her distance and utility remain untouched. This should make her less overwhelming in close engagements and slightly easier to counter when chasing or retreating.

Meanwhile, Alter’s downed Nexus fix ensures her teleport functions properly when interacting with downed teammates, improving team coordination and consistency for Controller mains.
