Fourth in Europe a month ago, G2 have not won a series since 5 October, and the losing run has already pushed them out of the Major’s Stage 3 places.
G2 Esports have lost six series in a row. The 2-1 defeat to Aurora on Tuesday morning followed a 2-1 loss to PARIVISION on Monday, and G2 leave IEM Beijing 2026 in 13th to 16th place without a series win, as they did at PGL Masters Bucharest a week earlier.
It ended on a moment G2 could at least hold on to. With Aurora on map point at 12-11 on Dust2, Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač found an ace to force overtime. Aurora then won four of the five rounds in overtime, after Wicadia’s Scout clutch earlier in the map.
Six series, one map each
G2’s last series win was a 2-0 over ShindeN at ESL Pro League Season 24 on 5 October. Since then:
PARIVISION2-1
G2Pro League, 6 October: Ancient 13-7, Anubis 9-13, Inferno 13-11
NAVI2-0
G2Bucharest, 24 October: Nuke 13-11, Dust2 22-19
Aurora2-0
G2Bucharest, 25 October: Cache 13-11, Inferno 16-14
DENDELE2-1
G2Bucharest, 26 October: Nuke 13-5, Ancient 14-16, Inferno 13-5
PARIVISION2-1
G2Beijing, 2 November: Dust2 9-13, Anubis 13-7, Ancient 13-9
Aurora2-1
G2Beijing, 3 November: Nuke 13-9, Inferno 9-13, Dust2 16-13Across the six series G2 won 4 maps and lost 12, and 176 rounds to 212. Half of those lost maps were decided by two or three rounds or in overtime, which is why the team kept talking about the margins. After Tuesday’s exit, coach sAw went through the 5v3s and 3v2s G2 had not closed out on ESL’s broadcast.
I can count at least five like instantly, and it’s an overtime game
Two of the six were not close at all. DENDELE won Nuke and Inferno 13-5 in Bucharest, and PARIVISION took the last two maps on Monday with room to spare.
Three events, three early exits
The run sits on top of a September that still looked like progress. G2 reached the final of FISSURE Playground 3 and lost it 0-3 to Legacy on 13 September. Of the eight series since that final, they have won one.
| Event | Series won-lost | Place |
|---|---|---|
| ESL Pro League Season 24 | 1-3 | 12th to 14th |
| PGL Masters Bucharest 2026 | 0-3 | 15th to 16th |
| IEM Beijing 2026 | 0-2 | 13th to 16th |
G2’s own account summed up those three events with a grimacing reaction clip on Tuesday morning, and HeavyGod thanked the fans after the exit.
The lineup has not changed since r1nkle replaced SunPayus as the AWPer at the end of June. He went 29-50 with 52.6 ADR against Aurora, and in Bucharest sAw told HLTV the team were “stagnating, or maybe even took a couple of steps backward”. Nine days on, they have dropped two more series.
From fourth to ninth in Europe
The bill shows up in Valve’s Regional Standings. On 5 October G2 were fourth in Europe and fifth in the world on 1,847 points. On 2 November, the cut-off for the Major invites, they were ninth in Europe and 11th in the world on 1,616, a drop of 231 points. All four series losses before the cut-off counted against them in Valve’s head-to-head adjustments.
| Valve VRS | Europe | Global | Points |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 October | 4 | 5 | 1,847 |
| 2 November | 9 | 11 | 1,616 |
The six best-placed European teams on 2 November went straight to Stage 3 of the PGL Major Singapore. G2 start a stage earlier, in Stage 2 from 28 November, among others with FUT, NAVI and Astralis. The same standings still keep them inside the direct invites to PGL Cluj-Napoca in February.
Hong Kong before Singapore
There is one more event before the Major. G2 are among the eight teams at BLAST Rivals 2026 Season 2 in Hong Kong from 11 to 15 November, and they open Group B against MOUZ, first in Valve’s standings. It is the last chance to end the run before Singapore.
