Down 9-12 on The MongolZ’ own Dust2 pick, Nemiga won ten of the last 13 rounds to take the organisation into its first tier-one playoffs, with Spirit Academy loanee syph0 at the heart of it.
Nemiga Gaming are into the quarter-finals of PGL Masters Bucharest 2026 after a 2-0 win over The MongolZ in Wednesday’s final Swiss round, 13-5 on Cache and 19-15 in double overtime on Dust2. The MongolZ are out in ninth to 11th place.
For Nemiga, the result goes beyond the event. The club wrote on X that it is the first time the organisation has reached the playoffs of a tier-one tournament.

Three map points, then nothing more for The MongolZ
Dust2 was The MongolZ’ pick, and for most of it they looked set to force a decider. Nemiga won four of the first five rounds, then lost seven in a row and went into the break 5-7. They took the second pistol round and levelled at 7-7, but The MongolZ pulled away again to 12-9.
Nemiga saved all three map points. The first overtime finished level at 15-15, and in the second Nemiga did not drop a round. They held their CT half 3-0, the side they had struggled on all afternoon, and khaN won the final round on his own after the plant. The MongolZ ran out of ideas: they tried the same move through the smokes towards B twice in a row, and syph0 and KaiR0N- were waiting both times.
KaiR0N-, who said he had barely found a kill for most of the map before coming alive in overtime, put the win down to the small moments.
Today we won almost every clutch, I guess. This is also really important in those type of games, because they’re tied to tied, and you need to win in those critical moments.
The loanee who set the tone
The steady force across both maps was Daniel “syph0” Ageyev, the Spirit Academy player on loan to Nemiga. He finished 51-31 with 111.3 ADR and 84.6% KAST, the only player on the server above 100 ADR. On Cache he went 18-10 and won a 1v3, and on Dust2 he was 33-21, with most of his kills coming in regulation, while KaiR0N- and khaN were still searching for their game. It is the second time this week he has carried them through a marathon map, after 47 kills in a four-overtime Ancient against Legacy on Saturday.
Cache was easier. Nemiga picked it knowing The MongolZ had lost it 3-13 to Vitality on Sunday and twice to BIG at the 1win Private Club event in Belgrade. Starting on the T side, Nemiga went 9-3 at the break, with Xant3r adding a 1v2, and closed it 13-5.
For KaiR0N-, the run is personal as well. A year ago, he said in the post-match interview, “I was just in top 100, couldn’t win a CCT game, and now I’m here in the playoffs.”
A slipping invite for The MongolZ
The MongolZ leave Bucharest with two wins from five series and $31,250. Only bLitz and 910 stayed close to even. cobrazera finished 26-42 and managed 40.7 ADR on Cache, and nin9, in his first tier-one event with the team, ended on 57.1 ADR.
The defeat also hurts beyond this event. HLTV’s invite simulator now gives The MongolZ a 40.4% chance of a place at PGL Cluj-Napoca 2027, 17th in a race for 14 global spots, five days before Valve’s 2 November snapshot. Their Major place, as the top team in Asia, is not affected. IEM Beijing, which starts on 2 November, is their next chance to add points.
Nemiga, whose Major invitation was already settled, now play for more of them. In HLTV’s numbers, a run to the semi-finals would lift their chance of a BLAST Bounty 2027 Season 1 invite to 88.0%, against 29.1% if they go out in the quarter-finals.
