syph0 drags Nemiga through four overtimes in 2-0 win over Legacy

Nemiga needed four overtimes and a 47-kill map from syph0 to win their own pick against last year’s Bucharest finalists, then took Dust2 13-8 for a sweep that leaves them on the edge of a Singapore Major spot.

Nemiga‘s first match at PGL Masters Bucharest 2026 ended in a sweep of Legacy. Ancient, their own pick, ran to a fourth overtime before they took it 25-23, and Legacy’s Dust2 followed 13-8.

Legacy came in as clear favourites. They are eighth in Valve’s Regional Standings, reached the final in Bucharest a year ago, where they lost 3-2 to Aurora, and their Major place was never in doubt. Nemiga were 23rd and came through the European closed qualifier. For them, this was the match that mattered most of the whole event. Before the series, HLTV’s simulation gave them an 80.5% chance of an invite to the PGL Major Singapore, rising to 96.9% with a win.

48 rounds on Ancient

The series was decided on a map that refused to end. Ancient is Nemiga’s most played map, and they had it won several times over. They led 12-9 and had three map points in regulation. Legacy saved all three and kept going, six rounds in a row in all, to stand on map point themselves at 15-12 in the first overtime. Nemiga came back to force a second overtime, then a third, then a fourth.

Legacy survived on clutches. latto won three of them on the map and dumau two, and every time Nemiga looked ready to close, a Legacy player on low health found another headshot. Nemiga’s habit of forcing the pace, which won them rounds early, became predictable deep into the overtimes, and Legacy started to wait for the fights to come to them.

Nemiga still found the answers when it counted. Xant3r, quiet for most of the map, won a one-against-two by sitting on the bomb when nobody expected him there. In the fourth overtime Legacy saved one more map point at 24-22, before Nemiga finally closed it out 25-23 in round 48.

syph0 carries the weight

The player who kept Nemiga in it was syph0. A Spirit Academy prospect on loan to Nemiga, he finished Ancient with 47 kills and 35 deaths and 105.5 ADR. That was as many kills in one map as donk managed in three against BetBoom earlier in the day. He piled up opening kills in regulation and got sharper the longer the map went, including a one-bullet headshot through a smoke to save a round in overtime.

He was the best player in the series with 59 kills, and he did it with a Major place on the line in the first match of the event. khaN was Nemiga’s other steady performer with the AWP, finishing on 49 kills and 42 deaths.

On Dust2 it was someone else’s turn. Nemiga’s in-game leader robo had a poor Ancient, 25 kills and 36 deaths, but he anchored the CT side on Dust2 with 14 kills in the first half, including a four-kill round that answered Legacy’s first rifle win. Xant3r saved an early round with a one-against-three after Nemiga had lost a triple fight in mid to pistols. Nemiga won the half 7-5, took both pistol rounds and pulled away to 11-5 and 13-8. KaiR0N- set the tone with his aggression on the T side of Ancient and added a triple kill late on Dust2.

Legacy fall short again

For Legacy, it was the latest loss in a poor run. They had lost four of their last five series before Bucharest, and their in-game leader arT has only just returned after time away with health problems. He finished the series with 30 kills and 53 deaths, six of them kills on Dust2.

latto and try did what they could, with 58 kills each. latto was the reason Ancient went so long, finishing the map on 43 kills, and try was their best player on Dust2 with 18 kills. It was not enough against a team that had more to play for.

Singapore in sight

Nemiga are now close to their first Major since Austin in 2025. The sweep is worth 47 VRS points and lifts them from 23rd to 17th in HLTV’s calculation, and Valve sends out the Major invitations on 2 November, two days after the final here. A run to the playoffs would settle it.

Legacy lose 26 points but stay eighth, and their Major place was never at risk. Their worry is this week: from 0-1 they need three wins in their next four series to reach the playoffs, and two more defeats end their stay in Bucharest.
