BetBoom make it two in a row against Falcons eliminating them from Malta

BetBoom reverse-swept Falcons to deny them a chance to compete for their first trophy of the season.

Falcons are still searching for their first grand final appearance of the season, now losing to BetBoom in the semi-final of the Thunderpick World Championship. BetBoom will face FURIA for the trophy, contrary to most experts’ predictions of a Falcons victory.

BetBoom have proven to be somewhat of a kryptonite for Falcons, going 4-1 in maps against them since their matchup at the IEM Cologne Major, a tournament which Falcons would end up winning.

With this loss, Falcons are no longer guaranteed to reach Stage 3 of the PGL Singapore Major directly, sitting at a 95.8% chance of that still according to the HLTV VRS Simulator.

Falcons’ heroics on Dust2 insufficient

Despite hero rounds from the likes of Ilya ‘m0NESY’ Osipov and Nikola “NiKo” Kovač finding a triple kill in middle with a signature one tap on Dust2 in overtime, BetBoom were not flustered. They were able to sweep the rest of overtime to take it to a third map, which they dominated 13-7.

Kirill ‘Magnojez’ Rodnov picked the best time to show form, getting the most kills (59) on a server full of superstars. One of those superstars is Maxim ‘kyousuke’ Lukin, Falcons’ highest-rated player at the IEM Cologne Major playoffs, who dropped a measly 0.84 rating in this series.

Falcons’ star dropping off could not have come at a worse time as it coincided with Finn ‘karrigan’ Andersen having a rare individual uptick, but it was not enough to reach the grand final here.
