Marco “Snappi” Pfeiffer has officially concluded his career as a professional Counter-Strike player to step into the head coach position for HEROIC. Speaking on a recent episode of HLTV Confirmed, the Danish in-game leader detailed the factors behind his retirement and his immediate transition to coaching.
A mutual decision to step down from NIP
Snappi pointed to a decline in his individual performance as the primary catalyst for his retirement. After finding relative stability in 2025, his 2026 season with Ninjas in Pyjamas proved highly volatile due to frequent roster changes and personal struggles on the server.
I was often frustrated that I couldn’t get the output out that I individually was used to,” Snappi explained on the broadcast. “I was not the greatest individual player, let’s say it that way.
Recognizing the team’s need for higher mechanical output, Snappi approached NIP management about finding a replacement in-game leader. He noted that the decision was ultimately an organizational move but one he completely agreed with. The final months of his playing career brought immense external pressure and severe social media criticism, compounded by a private life event outside the game that impacted his focus.
Firepower struggles and the Falcons project
Reflecting on his career prior to NIP, Snappi addressed the Team Falcons project that failed to meet expectations. The initial vision for the roster was heavily disrupted when the organization did not secure the signings of Nikola “NiKo” Kovač and Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov.
Without those core pieces, the team lacked the necessary fragging ability to compete consistently at the top tier.
We were merging ENCE and Vitality, but the main firepower in Vitality was Spinx and ZywOo,” Snappi said regarding the Falcons roster construction. “We had all the support pieces, but we really lacked the firepower.
Taking charge of HEROIC
Despite missing out on top-tier trophies during his playing career, Snappi intends to pursue those same competitive goals as a coach. HEROIC approached him multiple times in the past, and he accepted their most recent offer weeks before the official announcement. Replacing Doto, Snappi inherits a roster that just recently secured a tournament victory.
He believes his decade of experience as an in-game leader gives him a natural foundation for the coaching role, though he plans to read extensively and study psychology to master the transition.
I didn’t really achieve all my goals as a player,” Snappi stated. “Therefore I kind of have to keep chasing but in a different way.
HEROIC is currently preparing for their upcoming matches to qualify for the PGL Singapore Major.
