GamerLegion have endured an extraordinary run of misfortune throughout September, with off-server disruptions repeatedly preventing the team from fielding their active five-man lineup. The string of personnel issues has taken a heavy toll on their qualification prospects for the Singapore Major, where their mathematical odds have fallen from 68.9% down to 26.7% following three consecutive series defeats.
Medical emergencies and passport damage disrupt campaign
The troubles began during the IEM Beijing 2026 Closed Qualifier in early September. GamerLegion had to compete with a substitute after Sebastian “Tauson” Tauson was admitted to the hospital with reactive arthritis. The depleted squad exited the qualifier in 13th-16th place following a 1-2 defeat to K27.
Less than a week later at FISSURE Playground 3, administrative complications struck. Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski had his passport damaged during transit, which resulted in border authorities denying him entry into the country. Playing with another stand-in, GamerLegion fell 1-2 to FURIA and 0-2 to TYLOO, registering another 13th-16th place finish.
The misfortune followed the team into Logitech G Play Connect 2026. The organization announced ahead of their opening game that Fredrik “REZ” Sterner had been admitted to the hospital for observation following severe food poisoning. Szymon “kRaSnaL” Mrozek was brought in on short notice to fill the vacant spot while REZ recovers.
Opening win against Luminosity offers immediate relief
Despite entering the server with another improvised lineup, GamerLegion managed to stop their losing slide in their first match of the tournament. The team took down Luminosity with a convincing 13-7 scoreline.
While the opening victory provides much-needed breathing room at Logitech G Play Connect, GamerLegion still face a steep climb to repair their standing and recover the ground lost over the past three weeks.
