VALORANT News Update: Abyss Returns, Act 5 Battle Pass Leaks, and Champions 2026 Release Date

A wave of quick but massive updates is hitting the VALORANT community. From major competitive map pool changes to nostalgic battle pass leaks and the highly anticipated Champions 2026 release window, here is everything you need to know about the future of the game.

Abyss is Returning to Competitive

Get ready to watch your step again—Abyss is reportedly returning to the competitive map pool.

While Riot Games has not officially confirmed which map will be rotating out to make room for it, the community is already heavily speculating. Many players and content creators predict that Sunset might be the one getting the boot. Let us know in the comments which map you hope gets rotated out!

Act 5 Battle Pass Leak: No Variants?

We are getting closer to the release of the next Act, and the initial Battle Pass leaks are incredibly interesting. According to early information, the upcoming Act 5 Battle Pass might not feature the usual weapon color variants.

Instead of recolors, Riot could be returning to a classic design philosophy from the early days of VALORANT. Six years ago, in Episode 1 Act 2, Riot released the Hivemind Battle Pass collection (featuring the Ares, Spectre, Vandal, Shorty, and a Sword). Rather than relying on different color variants, that collection focused on completely unique weapon designs and intricate modeling.

While the Hivemind collection itself isn’t coming back, leakers believe the style of the new Battle Pass will follow a similar approach—trading color variants for higher-quality, unique 3D models that look surprisingly good for a budget skin tier.

Champions 2026 Release Window

If you are currently saving your VALORANT Points for the biggest bundle of the year, mark your calendars. The current expected release window for the Champions 2026 bundle is between September 12th and September 16th.

Keep in mind that Riot Games has not officially confirmed this exact date yet, so timelines could shift slightly. However, if you are planning to grab the leaked Phantom or Trophy Flex, mid-September is the time to be ready.
