BetBoom send Vitality to IEM Atlanta lower bracket

The Russian squad took down the #1 team fresh off of their second Grand Slam.

The Russian squad took down the #1 team fresh off of their second Grand Slam.

BetBoom, a mix of Russian talent led by Major-winning IGL Boombl4, have taken down Team Vitality in the upper bracket of IEM Atlanta.

They were the heavy underdog in this series, with Vitality winning 5 of the 6 tournaments they have competed at this year. They had only lost series to Falcons this year prior to this loss.

It took a veteran in-game leader with explosive Russian talent, and with a stand-in in FL4MUS, to defeat the world number 1.

Convincing map wins

BetBoom took home the first map of Anubis, where they had a stellar start and closed out.

On Nuke, they were dominant, securing a 10:2 first half. From there, Vitality started to come back, but BetBoom came through with two crucial rounds.

That included a crucial round which magnojez opened up, which allowed them to close out 13-8. He went 20-8 in the final map to close out the win against Vitality.

Nuke a weakness for Vitality?

With this loss, it marks the second consecutive Nuke that Vitality have been demolished on their T-side. Last time, they lost a 1-11 half to NAVI in the final of BLAST Rivals before mounting a huge comeback.
