The 2026 season has officially kicked off with the return of Breeze to the active map pool. While the map has been gone for a while, it is definitely not the same as you remember. Riot Games has rolled out a major overhaul in Patch 12.00 to fix some of the most annoying issues players had with the map’s massive size. The new minimap reveals a much tighter layout that cuts down on the infinite sightlines that used to dominate the game.
- Halls is officially closed: You can no longer lurk through the long A corridor. This completely changes how attackers have to approach the A site.
- Mid is less open: New walls and boxes have been added to the middle of the map so you aren’t constantly exposed to five different angles at once.
- Rotations are faster: Defenders now have a much easier time moving between sites thanks to updated tunnels near the spawn area.
Comparing the old vs new Breeze minimap
The most obvious difference when looking at the new minimap is how much the “playable” space has been reduced. By cutting off areas like the A Halls and widening the shop entrance, the game feels less like a long-range sniper duel and more like a tactical shooter. Defenders now have fewer “50/50” angles to worry about, making it easier to hold a site without getting flanked from three different directions.
| Location | Old Map Feature | New Map Feature | Impact |
| A Hall | Open corridor | Fully blocked off | No more A flank |
| Mid Pillar | Open on both sides | One side closed off | Predictable fights |
| B Site Stairs | Accessible stairs | Solid wall/boxes | Better site defense |
| A Shop | Narrow doorway | Widened entrance | Easier site entry |
Mid section gets a complete makeover
Mid used to be a nightmare to cross without a smoke, but the rework has added much-needed cover. The central pillar is now connected to a larger wall, meaning you only have to worry about one side when pushing toward B link or A wood doors. This makes agents like Breach or Omen much more effective because their utility can actually cover the entire width of the new, narrower chokepoints.
Another small but vital change is the removal of the rope in the middle. Most agents can no longer just hop up into the nest area. Now, if you want that high-ground advantage, you usually need a movement ability from an agent like Jett or Raze. This prevents every single round from turning into a fight for nest control.
Better defensive options on A and B sites
The plant sites themselves haven’t been ignored. On A site, the pyramids are taller, providing more actual cover for the person planting the spike. Over on B site, the back-site wall has been straightened out and raised. This removes those “head-peek” angles where defenders could see your feet before you ever saw their heads. These changes give the defending team a real fighting chance to retake the site without being picked off by a sniper sitting in the far back corner.

FAQ: Breeze rework
Is the A Hall door still on Breeze?
The door is still there, but the entire hallway behind it is now fenced off. You can no longer walk through it to flank the A site, though you can still use the “chute” to drop down into mid.
Why did Riot change the Breeze minimap?
The community felt the original map was too large and favored snipers too heavily. These changes aim to make more agents viable and reduce the number of angles you have to clear when entering a site.
Can you still jump into the nest from mid?
No, the standard jump has been removed. You now need to use mobility utility or take the long way around through the defender spawn to get into the nest.
What map did Breeze replace in the pool?
Breeze has returned to the competitive rotation in Patch 12.00, taking the place of Sunset, which has been rotated out for further balancing.
