New leaks for Apex Legends Season 27: Amped have surfaced, revealing a mix of gameplay upgrades, balance adjustments, and new limited-time content. Alongside weapon nerfs and ranked reworks, players can look forward to the Supersonic Event, new Wildcards, and a potential Octane buff later in the season.

Supersonic event
A new limited-time event called the Supersonic Event is coming in Season 27. It features new Legendary and Mythic rewards, plus a universal melee weapon.
Skins and cosmetics
Legendary Skins for:
- Horizon
- Crypto
- Sparrow
- Mirage
- Catalyst
Additional Event Skins for:
- Octane
- Ash
- Revenant
weapons and rewards
- The Death Duet Universal Melee: A set of Dual Katanas that serve as the event’s signature weapon.
- Mythic R-99: Obtained through Rampart’s Care Packages. This version borrows Valkyrie’s Missile Swarm mechanics and grants extra movement and zipline speed bonuses when equipped.
New ability movement button
A new Ability Movement Button will arrive in Season 27, giving players smoother control of all mobility-based abilities. This new keybind unifies movement inputs across multiple Legends, improving precision and responsiveness on both controller and keyboard.
It will apply to several high-mobility Legends, including:
- Ash’s Dash
- Sparrow’s Double Jump
- Valkyrie’s Jetpack
This system will make ability-based mobility feel more fluid and consistent, especially during intense combat scenarios.
Heat shields removed
One of the biggest changes in Season 27 is the complete removal of Heat Shields from the game.
Respawn reportedly made this decision to fix late-game balance issues. Heat Shields often allowed players to survive indefinitely outside the ring, disrupting pacing and competitive integrity. Without them, zone control and timing will once again become central to survival.
Peacekeeper nerfs
The Peacekeeper shotgun is getting a heavy nerf in Season 27. Its maximum damage will now sit around 99, cutting down its one-shot potential.
This change supports Respawn’s effort to make close-range fights more skill-based and consistent, giving other shotguns like the EVA-8 and Mastiff more room in the meta.
Care package CAR SMG changes
The CAR SMG will remain in the Care Package, but with a major new twist. Instead of switching between ammo types, it will now swap between Disruptor Rounds and Hammerpoint Rounds.
This makes the Care Package CAR an all-in-one powerhouse that can shred shields or health depending on the hop-up selected, but it will demand smart timing and aim management to use effectively.
Additionally, the Triple Take will leave the Care Package and return to floor loot, making it more accessible for mid-range play.
Hop-up changes
Two fan-favorite hop-ups are leaving the game in Season 27:
- Skullpiercer
- Accelerator
These removals make room for newer and more specialized hop-ups, such as the Double Tap Alternator, which fires both barrels at once to deliver devastating close-range bursts.
Ranked changes
Season 27 brings a series of ranked progression improvements focused on fairness and rewarding consistency.
Ranked reworks include:
- Drop Zone Fairness: Loot has been standardized across all POIs to prevent uneven landing advantages.
- KP vs RP Rebalance: The relationship between Kill Points and Ranked Points has been fine-tuned to ensure fair progression and reduce harsh penalties for placement losses.
- Teammate Requeue: Players can now requeue with random teammates they performed well with, improving the solo queue experience.
These changes aim to make ranked feel more competitive and balanced while encouraging team synergy.
New Wildcards
Season 27 introduces a set of new Wildcards, designed to enhance speed, recovery, and awareness across all Legends.
- Extra Zippy: Restores shields and gives a speed boost while using ziplines.
- Eyes in the Sky: Highlights enemies while they are in the air.
- Quick and the Dead: Highlights enemies on the ground during engagements.
- Get Up and Go: Grants a speed boost immediately after reviving a teammate.
- Along for the Slide: Greatly increases slide distance and speed.
These Wildcards will be available in Wildcard mode and are expected to bring new tactical variety and high-mobility gameplay to Season 27.
Octane buff coming soon
Respawn confirmed that an Octane buff is being considered for future updates.
“We’re considering making some changes to him as part of future adjustments.”
While no specifics were shared, the buff may improve his stim recovery or movement interaction with new systems like Mantle Boost and Wildcards.
Season 27 map rotation
The map rotation for Season 27 will feature three maps:
- Olympus (Rebuilt and available as a Wildcard map)
- Broken Moon
- World’s Edge
The reworked Olympus will headline the rotation, featuring new POIs such as Somers University, Gravity Engine, and Dockyard, all designed for smoother combat flow and better cover distribution.
Season 27: Amped is shaping up to be one of Apex Legends’ most feature-packed seasons yet.
