Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin and MOUZ are back in London after an online group stage that Brollan calls both a breather and a test. The Swedish rifler turned in-game leader is clear about where the work is now, converting pressure moments into closed maps, while continuing his growth as IGL with Sycrone and Xyp9x shaping the structure behind the scenes.
You can watch our full interview with Brollan in the video below:
Pressure moments, punished mistakes
Stepping in to the semi finals slipped for MOUZ as they lost 2-0 to FURIA. Brollan points to key clutches and multi kill swings that got away, and to the way elite opponents squeeze every opening.
“The good teams are really good at punishing you for small mistakes,” he says.
Also adding that in late bracket games the team sometimes doesn’t show up when the pressure arives:
“We are a little bit disconnected when it comes to pressure situations. We are not showing up as we usually do.”
IGL evolution with Sycrone and Xyp9x
Becoming the caller was not a long term plan, it was a need the staff asked him to fill.
“No, I’ll say it was really a surprise for me… the coach and staff asked me to do it.”
From there, Brollan puts the spotlight on his support staff.
“They’re always behind the scenes and helping everyone, and especially me as well,” he says. “Especially [Sycrone] is helping me with the calling. They do a lot, they try to develop a playbook as much as possible and try to be aware of things.”
He credits Sycrone and Xyp9x with turning reviews into clear round plans, sharpening his mid round decisions, and giving him the confidence to keep empowering playmakers like Xertion and Torszi.
The big question for MOUZ is whether they can sustain this level in the playoffs and turn it into their first trophy of the season.
