ropz on MOUZ rivalry: It’s a bit personal for some players

The Estonian rifler took his time speaking to Pley after Vitality's semifinal victory yesterday.

Vitality are through to the Grand Final at the BLAST.tv Austin Major after defeating MOUZ in Saturday’s semifinal.

Last night’s result in Texas marked Vitality’s seventh consecutive victory over Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin and company this year.

So, we asked Robin “ropz” Kool what’s behind the streak, and whether it has become more of a mindset thing.

– I think it’s a bit of everything. It’s a bit personal for some players, with Spinx being an ex-Vitality in MOUZ, and obviously for MOUZ also – they really want to beat us because we have this big streak against them.

– For us, we have ZywOo. That’s always going to help. But I think the way we prepare and the anti-strat that apEX and coaches are doing is really good.

Speaking to Pley, ropz admitted there are very few surprises when these two teams meet at this point.

– When we play each other, we both know how we’re going to play because we have played so many matches against each other. So for both teams, there’s going to be mind games and just figuring everything out. I just think winning the duels and refragging is the most important part.

Disagreeing with sycrone

Ahead of their semifinal clash, MOUZ’s head coach Dennis “sycrone” Nielsen pointed to the scheduling as a clear and “unfair” advantage for his team.

Having played their quarterfinal on Thursday, MOUZ had one extra day to rest and prepare compared to Vitality, who played Friday.

But ropz actually saw it the complete opposite way.

– MOUZ had one extra day to prepare. We talked about it – maybe it’s an advantage, maybe not. I think we kind of agreed that it might not be an advantage. Because having one day off between a quarterfinal and a semifinal, something can happen on that day.

– I think it feels really nice to just play-play-play. Like quarterfinal, next day semifinal, and then the final. For me personally, I think it’s really nice.

Vitality will play The MongolZ in the Grand Final at BLAST.tv Austin Major tonight at 21:30 CEST.
