donk on record-breaking year: I didn’t do something special

In an interview with Pley.gg, the Spirit phenomenon reflects on his historic rookie year, his mindset, and what drives him to keep breaking records.

2024 was a year to remember for Danil “donk” Kryshkovets.

Major winner, Major MVP, Player of the Year, five total MVP titles, and a 1.70 ranking at IEM Katowice.

The Spirit superstar’s debut season in top-tier Counter-Strike was nothing short of extraordinary, and even he struggles to grasp the scale of his success.

– It’s crazy. I couldn’t even imagine it happening so quickly, donk admits to Pley.gg.

We spoke with donk ahead of the 2025 season to hear about his historic rookie year, how he stays motivated, and whether more records might fall this year.

Nothing special behind the success

When reflecting on his extraordinary year, donk humbly credits his success to following guidance and hard work alongside his team.

– I don’t think I did something special last year. I was just listening to my coach and in-game leader and doing everything they wanted from me. I was just working a lot, also with my team.
