VALORANT Patch Notes 12.04 – Killjoy Buffs & UI Overhaul

TL;DR: VALORANT Patch notes 12.04 introduces a massive quality-of-life buff for Killjoy’s Turret placement, a complete overhaul of the Progression and Career UI, and essential bug fixes for agents like Jett and Harbor. While a shorter patch, it focuses on long-term performance stability and streamlining the player experience.

The latest update to VALORANT has arrived, and while it might not shift the meta as aggressively as a new agent release, Patch 12.04 brings some highly requested “Quality of Life” (QoL) changes. From a much smoother building experience for Killjoy mains to a brand-new way to track your RR gains, this patch is all about polish and performance.

Agent Updates: Precision Engineering

Killjoys official artworkKilljoy – Turret placement perfected

Description: Turret placement now matches the cast paradigm of Sage’s Barrier Orb.

Killjoy players no longer need to perform “parkour” or stand at awkward angles to get the perfect Turret coverage. By holding down ALT-FIRE, you can now rotate the Turret manually before placing it. Additionally, tapping ACTIVATE will instantly swap the Turret’s direction. This allows for pixel-perfect setups on sites like Ascent B or Breeze, ensuring your Turret watches exactly the sliver of a corner you intended.

Sovas official artworkSova – New Voice Lines

The Hunter from Russia has received a fresh batch of voice lines. While these don’t impact gameplay, they add extra depth to Sova’s character as he interacts with the evolving VALORANT roster.

Technical & Performance Fixes: No More Stutters

Since Patch 12.03, the community has reported significant stuttering issues. The developers have officially deployed a “robust fix” in 12.04 to eliminate these performance drops.

Essential Bug Fixes

  • Jett's official artworkJett: Fixed a bug where Drift’s gliding SFX could be heard through Astra’s Cosmic Divide.
  • Harbor's official artworkHarbor: Fixed a bug where Storm Surge would occasionally persist into the next round if cast at the very end of the timer.
  • Fade's official artworkFade: The Nightfall minimap indicator now accurately reflects the ability’s massive size.
  • Killjoys official artworkKilljoy: Multiple fixes for Nanoswarm invisibility bugs and minimap vision cone disappearing.

Progression Hub & UI Revamp (PC Only)

The biggest visual change this patch is the removal of the “Battlepass” tab in the top navigation bar. It has been replaced by the Progression Tab.

The Progression Hub

Clicking this new tab brings you to the Progression Hub, a one-stop shop for viewing your:

  • Battlepass status
  • Weekly and Daily missions
  • Active Event Passes

End of Game & Career Updates

The End of Game (EOG) screens have been completely rebuilt. The Progression, Summary, and Timeline tabs have cleaner layouts, and a dedicated Rank Summary screen now clearly displays your RR gains or losses after every Competitive match.

Map Updates: Breeze and Collision Fixes

The primary focus for maps in 12.04 was Breeze. Developers made various collision improvements to ensure that utility like Vyse’s Arc Rose and Cypher’s Spycam can be placed reliably on walls without falling through or being blocked by invisible geometry.

General geometry adjustments were also made across several maps to eliminate “unintended gaps” that were giving players unfair pixel-peeks.

Premier Stage V26A2: Act 2 Prep

Get your team together – the next Premier Stage starts with Act 2 in Patch 12.05!

  • Shortened Season: This stage will run for six weeks instead of the usual seven.
  • Qualifying Score: You need a Premier Score of 500 to qualify for the April 16 Playoffs.
  • Start Date: Matches officially begin on Wednesday, March 18.

FAQ: VALORANT Patch 12.04

Why can’t I scroll through my Battlepass? There is a known issue where the scroll wheel does not work in the Battlepass menu. This is scheduled to be fixed in Patch 12.05.

Did they nerf Vyse? No direct nerfs to Vyse this patch, but the Breeze collision fixes mean her Arc Rose will be more predictable (and easier to place) on defensive walls.

How do I rotate Killjoy’s turret now? Simply hold ALT-FIRE (Right Click) while placing it to rotate, or press your ACTIVATE key to flip it 180 degrees.
