Riot promised to improve Valorant ranked rewards: here’s what players want to see

Riot Games has already confirmed that ranked rewards will be improved in future Valorant seasons. But the community is not waiting quietly. Players across social media have been sharing their wishlists, frustrations, and ideas for how Riot should overhaul the reward system.

Based on recent discussions, here is what players are asking for most.

More than just gun buddies

One of the biggest complaints is that the current rewards feel underwhelming. Players want variety, not just the same set of rank gun buddies every episode.

Many fans suggested adding:

Banners
Titles
Sprays
Player borders
Flex style cosmetics similar to other competitive games

Several players noted that games like Rocket League offer multiple cosmetic types for ranked play, setting a higher standard for progression rewards.Increased motivation and progression valueA surprising number of players joked about wanting actual money for climbing, but behind the humor is a real point. Many believe that ranked needs more meaningful incentives.

Suggestions included:

Better milestone rewards per rank
Unique cosmetics that increase in quality the higher you climb
Limited edition unlocks that only top players can earn

These ideas aim to restore a sense of progression that some feel has faded over the years.

Quality of life changes to ranked itself

Some replies focused less on cosmetics and more on ranked quality. Players asked Riot to consider improvements such as:

Fixing smurfing without relying heavily on MFA restrictions
Reworking the ranked system entirely
Performing a hard reset to make climbing meaningful again
Reinforcing communication tools, possibly with mic requirements

These changes would not replace ranked rewards, but many players think they should accompany them.

Bring back missing rewards and clarify reward logic

Some returning players also noticed they never received ranked gun buddies from previous episodes. This led to confusion about whether older rewards were discontinued or if the system simply bugged.

Riot improving transparency and tracking for ranked cosmetics would help rebuild trust.

A bit of everything

Others said they want a more holistic system, including:

Boost style rewards
Rank themed wraps
Goal explosion style visuals
Cosmetic wheels or animations for menus

While playful, these suggestions reflect a desire for more modern, expressive rewards.

What will Riot actually do

Riot has not yet revealed the specifics, but they have acknowledged the feedback and stated that ranked rewards need to be more desirable. With Episode 9 approaching, players are hoping for their first look at an updated reward structure.

For now, the community continues to shape the conversation. So, what would you like Riot to add?
