It has been two weeks since the impactful Neon nerf took effect. With no direct agent balance updates dropping in Patch 12.10, the competitive meta is finally stabilizing, allowing us to take a clear snapshot of how things are shaping up.
The data shows a massive shift in duelist priorities following Neon’s adjustment. Neon has slid from the third most-picked duelist down to fifth, falling behind both Phoenix and Reyna. She is currently being picked half as much as she was pre-nerf, with the vast majority of her players transferring their loyalty over to Jett and Phoenix.
To build this meta snapshot, we analyzed data from the top 50 team compositions across every single map—factoring in win rates, match volume, and high-ELO brackets to see which agents are genuinely overperforming. Our unique Map Rating Metric compares an agent’s presence in the top 50 winning comps against their presence in the bottom 50 worst comps to separate empty popularity from raw effectiveness.
(Note: Aim-centric agents remain wildly popular, meaning you have immense personal agency to carry games if your mechanics are locked in. If you are struggling, our world-class courses offer risk-free tier progression to help you master your movement and aim.)
Here is the definitive breakdown of the best-performing agents across the map pool for Patch 12.10.
1. Ascent: Sova Dominance and the Clove Factor
Ascent remains incredibly lopsided when it comes to standard utility setups, though the duelist pool is experiencing an interesting twist.
- The Duelist Trap: Jett is highly popular, boasting a 70% representation rate in the top 50 comps. However, our map rating actually places her in the bottom five because she also appears in 92% of the worst 50 comps on the map. Phoenix serves as the preferred flex pick here with a 60% representation rate.
- Lopsided Initiators: Sova completely commands Ascent, showing up in a staggering 80% of top-tier compositions. The next closest initiator is Skye, sitting all the way back in single digits at 8%.
- Sentinels & Controllers: Killjoy leads the Sentinel class at 36%, with Cypher following at 28%. Clove reigns supreme over the controllers with a 70% representation rate.
Ascent Map Ratings (Top 5)
- Clove (+28)
- Sova (+26)
- Phoenix (+21)
- Sage (+13)
- Raze / Killjoy (+4)
2. Breeze: Wide Open Spaces for Sova and Chamber
Breeze is notorious for its long sightlines, making it a playground for high-impact sniper agents and double-duelist compositions.
- The Pick Rates: Jett and Sova are tied as the most popular anchors on the map, each commanding a 76% representation rate in the best comps. Reyna slots in at 40%, while Neon manages a 28% presence.
- Viper’s Co-Star: Clove maintains a 64% representation rate, but Breeze stands out as a heavy double-controller map. Viper holds a strong 36% presence, and Harbor even secures a rare single entry here.
- The Sentinel Divide: Chamber takes a massive 66% slice of the top spots, with Sage at 24% and Cypher at 12%. Much like Jett on Ascent, Chamber’s extreme popularity means he simultaneously lands in the bottom three for raw map rating.
Breeze Map Ratings (Top 5)
- Clove (+31)
- Sage (+9)
- Neon (+8)
- Sova (+7)
- Phoenix (+6)
3. Fracture: The Sova Detox Map
Fracture offers a breath of fresh air from the typical meta, pushing Sova entirely out of the picture while rewarding aggressive flash duelists and explosive setups.
- Raze & Yoru’s Rise: Jett is present in 80% of top comps, but Raze holds a vital 20% share and anchors the top two highest-performing comps on the map. Yoru also thrives here, breaking into 20% of the top-tier brackets alongside Skye (24%) and Fade (26%). When scaled down to the top 15 comps, Yoru appears 5 times—the most of any initiator.
- Brimstone vs. Clove: Clove secures a 62% representation rate overall, but Brimstone proves his worth by commanding five of the top six individual team compositions on the map.
- The Sentinel Hierarchy: Chamber sits at a 52% presence, followed by Sage at 20% and Killjoy at 16%.

- Clove (+27)
- Brimstone / Fade (+9)
- Phoenix (+8)
- Jett / Killjoy (+5)
4. Haven: Double Sentinels and Jett Supremacy
Haven marks a true return to a traditional Jett meta, completely pushing alternative duelists like Yoru out of the top 50 pool entirely.
- Role Breakdown: Jett’s representation has climbed to 70% (up from roughly half last act), while Neon has cratered to just 14%. Phoenix has taken a massive leap, featuring in over 50% of the top comps.
- Sova and Clove Run the Show: Sova absorbs a whopping 74% share of the initiator slots. Clove is even more dominant, showing up in 78% of winning compositions compared to Omen’s 10%.
- Double Sentinel Metas: Sentinels are incredibly tight on Haven. Sage and Killjoy tie for the lead at 38% each, with Chamber at 26% and Cypher at 12%. This statistical overlay means double-sentinel comps are currently overperforming.

5. Lotus: Fade takes the Driver’s Seat
Lotus stands out as a map where every single duelist manages to feature in the top 50 comps at least once.
- The Fade Standard: Sova steps aside on Lotus. Fade completely dominates the initiator category with a 72% presence. The rest of the initiators (Breach, Gekko, Skye, Sova) languish in a massive 6% four-way tie.
- The Hidden Viper Meta: Clove boasts an 86% representation rate. Interestingly, while Viper doesn’t heavily populate the top 50 due to a low 2% overall play rate, she actually anchors the single highest win-rate composition on the map when filtered for high-ELO play.
- Chamber Holds Vertigo: Chamber leads the Sentinels at 44%, followed by Vyse making a strong second-place appearance at 20%.
Lotus Map Ratings (Top 5)
- Clove (+41)
- Fade (+20)
- Vyse (+9) (Stands out by only appearing once in the bottom 50 comps)
- Phoenix (+8)
- Raze (+7)
6. Pearl: The Closest Thing to True Map Parity
Pearl offers a beautifully spread meta field where multiple playstyles can find high-level success.
- Phoenix’s Masterclass: For duelists, Phoenix actually leads the map at 54% representation, beating out Reyna (50%) and Jett (46%). Given that his pick rate on Pearl is a modest 33%, this disproportionately high winning presence proves Pearl is officially Phoenix’s best map in the current rotation.
- Initiators & Controllers: Fade secures a clean 50% share, followed by Sova at 20% and Skye at 14%. Clove remains the dominant controller at 86%, while Astra and Omen scratch out a single top-10 entry each.
- Sentinel Layout: Chamber leads at 56%, Killjoy claims 22%, and Sage holds 16%.

- Clove (+41)
- Phoenix (+17)
- Killjoy (+10)
- Neon (+8)
- Sova (+5)
7. Split: Sage and Clove Completely Lock it Down
Split is traditionally a defender-sided meatgrinder, and Patch 12.10 leans heavily into that identity with a massive resurgence of stall utility.
- The Core Stats: Jett (66%) and Raze (40%) remain the premier choices for scaling Split’s verticality, though Phoenix (32%), Reyna (24%), and Neon (20%) are highly active. Skye is the definitive initiator of choice at 40%.
- Clove’s Kingdom: This is Clove’s most dominant map in the entire VALORANT pool. Clove features in an unmatched 88% of all top 50 comps (44 out of 50). While Omen and Iso/Astra capture higher average win rates in the isolated slots they do inhabit, Clove’s sheer volume is undisputed.
- The Return of the Wall: Split completely bucks the global sentinel trend by vaulting Sage up to a massive 70% representation rate. Chamber tracks far behind at 28%, with Cypher at 24%.

- Clove (+41)
- Sage (+30) (The highest map rating for any non-Clove agent in the patch)
