StarLadder has announced on X that the Budapest Major Grand Final will be Bo5. This marks the first time, in the history of CS:GO and CS2, that a major will have a Bo5 grand final.
Counter-Strike teased it
Just three days ago the official Counter-Strike X-account replied to a user asking for Major Grand Finals to be Bo5. You can read more about that here.
The decision probably comes after the change from MR15 to MR12, which has meant we’ve seen some incredibly short matches in the Bo3 format.
Now there’s just one fix left for the Major format to be perfect: remove the Bo1s in the swiss stage and go full Bo3 until the finals.
The StarLadder Budapest Major Stage 1 will start in just 20 days from today.
