“It’s gone too far”: Mauisnake defends blameF from community criticism
Does the Counter-Strike expert have a point?
Benjamin “blameF” Bremer has been the target of heavy criticism in recent years, with the Danish rifler often labelled as a baiter or eco-hunter due to his calculated and sometimes passive playstyle.
A brief look at numbers provided by stats connoisseur Harry “NER0cs” Richards suggests that this perception of blameF holds some weight on paper.
Expert backs blameF
However, if you ask the renowned Counter-Strike expert Alex “Mauisnake” Ellenberg, he believes the negative narrative surrounding blameF has gone too far.
Speaking on an episode of Snake & Banter, Mauisnake came to the defence of the 27-year-old after blameF’s standout performances during the recent RMR campaign.
- blameF was just unbelievable at the RMRs, Mauisnake starts off.
- I rate him pretty highly compared to how the community sentiment has sort of created a really, really bad image of who blameF is as a person. Yes, blameF is a player that is more prone to getting eco frags and saving in situations where some other riflers won’t. (…) But I can’t see how blameF is not the best Danish player.
- In the final map [vs ECLOT at RMR] with all the pressure on the line, blameF got 12 opening duel wins and zero losses. That is crazy. Four of them were in overtime, in the highest-pressure moment for him and basically his career at that point.
"It has run too far"
Then Mauisnake went on to challenge the “baitF” label, which he believes thrives among some ‘Twitch chatters’ and ‘Redditors’.
-The baitF moniker has just run way too far. Because the amount of times he’s just pressuring door early on in the round and the amount of fights he’s taking on early – like looking for fights. He knows he wants to get an opening kill for his team. It’s not baiting in the same way that so many in the community imagine it, Mauisnake says and continues:
- The blameF that is actually playing the game versus the baitF that Twitch chatters and redditors imagine is such a different actual product. I’m personally really glad to see him make it to the Major, Mauisnaked said in the podcast.
