It has long been a running joke within the Counter-Strike community that Ivan “zweih” Gogin once said that makazze would be benched within six months of joining NAVI. That prediction has followed makazze the whole year as a meme, regularly resurfacing whenever NAVI wasn’t playing the best.
This week, that joke came full circle in an unexpected way. Instead of makazze being sidelined, zweih himself was benched by Team Spirit, alongside in-game leader Leonid “chopper” Vishnyakov.
An unnecessary response
Shortly after zweih’s benching became public, makazze took to X with a brief and not particularly subtle post. The message did not directly name zweih, but the reference was obvious.
Rather than letting the moment pass, zweih published a statement on X explaining why he had originally made the comment about makazze.
In his post, zweih suggested that makazze, or players around him, were using radar hack. He went further by claiming that even if makazze was not the one using it, he was aware of it and benefited from the information. Zweih concluded by stating that this situation had “ruined someone’s career.”
