Zont1x “starts headshotting” and Spirit blows VP to smithereens

Team Spirit, recent IEM Cologne champions, have taken down challengers Virtus.pro (VP) in 2-0 fashion in the quarter-finals of the BLAST Bounty.

Myroslav ‘zont1x’ Plakhotia, a player reported to be leaving Spirit, pulled off a 2.00 rating on VP’s pick of Overpass. The performance was so impressive it incited desk analyst Alex ‘Mauisnake’ Ellenberg to point out how the player had suddenly “started headshotting” in the post-game analysis.

This puts Spirit in the top four of the event to face the likes of Vitality, MOUZ and TheMongolZ. The defeat leaves Virtus.pro wanting as they have yet to make their mark on a difficult 2025.

A tale of two halves: an Ancient story

Virtus.pro looked hot to trot at the start of Ancient, losing the pistol but going on a riveting run of form to secure a 9-3 half.

A layman would have called it all but done, but Daniil ‘donk’ Kryshkovets and Dimitriy ‘sh1ro’ Sokolov brought their best to give the dragons a 10-1 defensive half.

Multiple clutches from sh1ro kept Spirit alive long enough to steal their own map pick.

Spirit went on to VP’s map pick of Overpass, enacting a damning sentence on their CT-side. The daunting donk took over once again, with zont1x contributing his own 1v3 clutch and 6 opening kills to the win.

Spirit goes on to the semi-finals tomorrow, awaiting the draft that will determine their opponent.
