Vitality may be the current rulers of Counter-Strike, but in the last two Majors, there’s been one hurdle they haven’t been able to overcome.
And that’s FaZe.
A semifinal loss in Copenhagen and a quarterfinal exit in Shanghai against karrigan’s troops are what mark Vitality’s last two Major runs.
But now it’s time for vengeance, Vitality’s William “mezii” Merriman assures.
– s1mple has spoken that he looks forward to playing against us and ZywOo. It’s the same for us, mezii told Pley.
– We want revenge from the two previous Majors, where we lost to FaZe. They are a team that has nothing to lose. They brought s1mple in for this, and they have shown a good standard. FaZe always have this ‘magic’ at Majors. It’s a fun matchup against them. When it gets to the stage and arena, it’s the most fun games. Everyone looks forward to these matches between Vitality and FaZe and so on.
“Of course, we’re the favorites”
In our post-match chat with mezii after Vitality’s win over Virtus.pro, the Brit expressed his relief of going Top 8, where he also did not shy away from that they are the team to beat.
– I’m glad to get through to the playoffs now. It’s the thing we as players all enjoy doing, being on that stage, playing in front of the fans. The hard part is over, and now it’s full focus on the playoffs
– Of course, we’re the favourites. And of course, it would be disappointing not to win the Major. But it wouldn’t put down any of the success or tournament wins we’ve had this season.
The playoffs at BLAST.tv Austin Major, featuring both FaZe and Vitality, is set to kick off on Thursday next week.
