The team features an experienced core of North American Counter-Strike veterans, bringing together Jacky “Stewie2K” Yip, Timothy “autimatic” Ta, Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte, Tsvetelin “CeRq” Dimitrov, and Justin “FaNg” Coakley, with Joshua “steel” Nissan behind them as coach.
Speaking to Dust2.us following Frag Midwest: St. Louis, Stewie2K outlined the squad’s long-term plan to climb back into contention through consistent practice and tournament attendance.
Rebuilding the foundation
After an extended time away from tier-one competition, the roster is focused on rebuilding team chemistry and communication from the ground up rather than relying solely on individual reputation.
We definitely still have it. We’ve been playing this game our whole lives at a high level at a certain point in our careers, and those things don’t magically go away,” Stewie2K said. “It takes repetition. It takes hard work and practicing together, building chemistry in the foundation.
Stewie2K also addressed his evolution as an in-game leader, pointing out that his current approach centers on collective input and player comfort rather than forcing a rigid system.
Eyes on the Major circuit
Without a Roof plans to operate on a full-time schedule, attending domestic LANs and online tournaments to accumulate points in the Valve Regional Standings. According to Stewie2K, the team does not have a set expiration date and understands the work required to return to the top tier.
We know what we used to be, but that’s in the past, and it’s a different chapter now,” Stewie2K stated.
The ultimate target for the veteran lineup remains clear as they commit to the circuit grind.
Like everyone else here probably trying to make the Major, we’re going to try to make it as well,” Stewie2K said. “We’re trying to have a good journey and, at the same time, put everything we have into it and see if we can get to where we used to be and reach the heights that we reached before.
