Virtus.pro ready for playoffs at Flashpoint

It was the two most unlikely teams, that faced each other in the upper final in Group C at Flashpoint 2. Both of them created the biggest upsets in the tournament by winning against Cloud9 and OG.

Again Gen.G was not left many chances at the bookmakers beforehand. They surprised by their map pick. Train is statistically Virtus.pro’s best map, but Gen.G still picked the map. And with a reason.

With Timothy “autimatic” Ta at his best, Gen.G commanded the map, and never left Virtus.pro any chance for success. Autimatic went 25-9 in Kill/Deaths on Train.

The next map was Inferno. A map that Gen.G only had one victory in during the last three months. The North Americans trailed 6-9 after the first half. But on their T-side, they once again found momentum. With six rounds in a row, they forced themselves back in the lead.

With Vertigo being the decider map, it was clear, that Gen.G did everything they could to deny Virtus.pro a third map. But Gen.G lacked one vital thing. They could not hold on to their bombsites. Virtus.pro made several retakes and was able to fight back. From 9-12, they went ahead with 14-12 in an exciting game of Counter-Strike, before making the last push to make it 16-13.

The game went to the decider on Vertigo and Virtus.Pro was off to a good start, taking a 10-5 lead in the first half on the CT-side. Gen.G couldn’t find their footing in the second half and only managed to win one round before Mareks “YEKINDAR” Galinskis and company wrapped up the game 16-6, to qualifiy for the playoffs with a 2-1 series win.
