torzsi’s 30-12 powers MOUZ to a 2-0 over 9z a day after the Liquid upset

torzsi went 30-12 as MOUZ took 22 of the last 26 rounds against 9z, winning Dust2 13-5 and Nuke 13-3 after a 10-2 T half. 9z are one loss from elimination in Bucharest.

MOUZ lost only four rounds after 4-4 on Dust2, took 9z’s own map pick 13-5 and won 10 of 12 rounds on the T side of Nuke. torzsi finished the series 30-12, and 9z are now one defeat away from going home from Bucharest.

At 4-4 on Dust2, Sunday’s series still looked like it might go somewhere. 9z had picked the map, won the pistol round and had a four-kill round from luchov behind them. MOUZ then won 22 of the 26 rounds that were left in the match, and the whole thing was done in about 90 minutes, a 15-minute break included.

The player at the centre of it was torzsi. The Hungarian AWPer finished on 30 kills and 12 deaths, the best difference on the server, and on Nuke he went 18-7 with 117.4 ADR. MOUZ always look a better team when he plays like this, and after two straight series defeats, the 0-3 to Vitality in the ESL Pro League final and Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Liquid, that was the version of MOUZ they needed at PGL Masters Bucharest 2026.

Nine rounds from ten on 9z’s map

Dust2 started the way 9z wanted. HUASOPEEK won the pistol round with three kills from a P250, luchov took four on the A site in round five, and HUASOPEEK later had a four-kill round of his own that came one kill short. torzsi ended that one, first with a Tec-9 and then with the AWP he went back for.

The problems were smaller and kept coming back. On their T side, 9z threw the same smoke in mid almost every round and missed it time and again, which shaped their early rounds before a shot was fired. On defence, they spent so long in their setup against a rush through long doors that the rest of the map was late every time, and MOUZ were rarely doing anything there anyway. MOUZ reached the half 7-5 up, won the second pistol round after luchov’s push into upper tunnels was punished, and took all six rounds on their T side. xertioN led the map with 16 kills and 99.1 ADR.

meyern, 9z’s AWPer, did not get a single kill with the AWP on Dust2. In the final round, MOUZ took control of the catwalk without a sound and caught him before he fired.

Ten T rounds on Nuke

Nuke is the most CT-sided map in the current pool, and many teams are content with three rounds on the T side. MOUZ started there and went into the half 10-2 up.

xelex set the tone with a clutch in the opening rounds, and MOUZ did not let 9z settle even when they found something. A risky rotation through the vent, with luchov and a teammate dropping down it, got 9z on the board, and dgt saved another round when MOUZ looked to have it won. MOUZ called a timeout, let 9z spend their utility guarding against a fast push on the upper site, and then hit it late with two entries and good flashes. With the full playbook open to them, 9z were left guessing every round.

9z won the second pistol round, and torzsi answered on the force buy with three kills from the scout. MOUZ needed three more rounds and dropped one. Spinx finished Nuke with a KAST of 100%, and over the series he contributed to 33 of the 34 rounds.

A rifle pair and little else

luchov was the only 9z player who came close to even, at 28-25, and he and HUASOPEEK did most of the work on Dust2. HUASOPEEK had 15 kills there and two on Nuke, where he died 15 times. Their AWPer and their captain gave them very little. meyern averaged 32.1 ADR over the series and max 40.1. In the past three months, only five of max’s 37 maps have ended with a positive rating on HLTV.

That is a long way from the team that went on its run at the Cologne Major, and 9z know it. In an interview PGL aired between the maps, coach BIT said the players had not been as sharp individually as they were at the Major, and that they had spent the build-up to Bucharest on deathmatch and demo review. He also called the event very important, because many of next year’s invitations will follow the Valve rankings, and said what he wanted most was a team that thinks about the next round rather than the one it just lost.

Two losses for 9z

The win puts MOUZ on one win and one loss, the same record as Liquid, The MongolZ, Spirit and Nemiga. Their next opponent has not been drawn yet. It is also their second 2-0 over 9z in two months, after a win at BLAST Open Porto in August where Nuke was one of the maps.

9z have no margin left. Along with TYLOO, they are on two defeats, and they need three straight series wins to reach the playoffs. In HLTV’s running estimate of Valve’s Regional Standings, MOUZ gain 11 points and stay second, while 9z lose three and remain 16th. The bigger cost for 9z is the race for PGL Cluj-Napoca 2027: before the match, HLTV’s invitation simulation gave them a 53.3% chance of a place, with a loss bringing that down to 44.3%.
