While it may not carry the weight of a Major or the legacy of a Cologne, PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026 is shaping up to be one of the most fiercely competitive tournaments of the year.

With the Counter-Strike calendar dominated by the “Big Three” – the Majors (including IEM Cologne this year) and the spectacle of IEM Kraków – there is often a lull between the titans. PGL Cluj-Napoca, however, refuses to be filler. Starting this Saturday, the tournament presents a bracket that rivals the most prestigious events in the calendar, offering a staggering $1.25 million prize pool and a star-studded lineup that makes the term “smaller tournament” feel like a misnomer.
The event also marks the one-year anniversary of MOUZ taking down the 2025 edition of the tournament, which is also their latest S-Tier victory.
A Stacked Field (With One Notable Exception)
The narrative going into Cluj-Napoca is one of density. Almost every top-tier contender is present, making the Swiss Group Stage a minefield from day one.
There is, however, one glaring absence: Team Spirit. The Russian powerhouse and their prodigy, donk, have opted to sit this one out. While their absence is felt, it does little to dilute the overall quality of the field. If anything, it opens the door slightly wider for teams like G2, Vitality, and MOUZ to claim silverware without having to go through the Spirit grinder.
Day One: Blockbuster Matchups
The schedule makers have wasted no time in heating up the server. The action kicks off Saturday morning with a classic rivalry as Natus Vincere (NAVI) takes on Astralis.
But the headline act of the opening round is undoubtedly Vitality vs. G2. Can the French Organization continue its dominance and replicate its incredible run in the first part of 2025? The match against G2 will quickly give us a hint whether Vitality’s storyline will
Elsewhere in the bracket, the storylines run deep:
- MOUZ vs. PARIVISION: A test for the BLAST Bounty champions against the defending champions of MOUZ.
- Falcons vs. 3DMAX: A quick rematch of their recent elimination series in Kraków, giving Falcons an immediate shot at revenge.
- Aurora vs. FUT: With Legacy out, FUT steps in to face Aurora in what could be a sleeper hit of the opening round.
The Format
The event utilizes a classic 16-team Swiss System. Teams will need three wins to advance to the single-elimination playoffs at the BT Arena, while three losses will result in elimination.
