Spirit, G2 pick up 13-8 wins

Donk kicked off the Major with a pistol ace and then a 30-bomb.

Despite trying to be “less of a star player”, Daniil ‘donk’ Kryshkovets couldn’t help but destroy Team Liquid in his debut at Budapest.

It was a joint effort between him and Dimitriy ‘sh1ro’ Sokolov in defeating a Liquid that looked to be in good form going into the second half. Together, the Russian duo went 54-20 in K/D, while the rest of the team went 30-37.

The first half was 8-4 for Spirit, where Liquid got their four rounds by attacking the B site defended by tN1R and zweih. One of these rounds was a timely EliGE 1v2 that gave a chance for a 5-7 half, but was fumbled in the next round.

In the second half, Liquid got the pistol, but failed to get a good read of Spirit’s attack and were run over.

G2 silence Passion UA comeback

The B-stream had G2 taking on Passion UA on Mirage. The favorites got to a crazy start, going 11-1 on the CT-side. Everybody on G2 was performed well, and despite losing some openings, managed to consistently clean up.

It almost got dicey in the second half when Passion started to show up. They went on an 8-2 run themselves on CT-side, despite losing a 1v3 to SunPayus. If that round had not happened, it may have gone to overtime.

Still, the favorites came out on top and proceed to the 1-0 stage.
