If you ask Natus Vincere’s star AWPer Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev, the competitive Counter-Strike scene is currently not “very strong”.
Something he said when he was a guest on the popular CS:GO podcast Talking Counter, hosted by the renowned figures Jason “moses” O’Toole and Chad “SPUNJ” Burchill. Over halfway through the podcast, s1mple were asked about who’s the best player he’s playing against right now.

– ZywOo, of course, s1mple quickly responded before continuing talking about the current state of top-tier CS:GO:
– I don’t think it’s a very strong competitive scene right now. So I just want to play against Vitality (#1 team in the world) as soon as possible, against ENCE (#2) and against Heroic (#4), s1mple said.
s1mple then follows up by mentioning his power ranking of the ten best CS:GO teams right now, where he among other things placed his own team two spots higher than HLTV’s current world ranking, and Astralis four spots lower than on the official list.
