Russian Government blocks access to FACEIT

The reason cited is for "extremist" violations not meeting legislative conditions.

The reason cited is for “extremist” violations not meeting legislative conditions.

Multiple sources from the Russian CS2 sphere reported the complete outage of FACEIT’s services in Russia.

There were already issues from late December and early January that FACEIT users in Russia were experiencing outages. Today, we can say that they are a result of a block imposed by the Roskomnadzor.

The Roskomnadzor is the Russian body that polices the government’s media laws. They have strict regulations for foreign companies operating in Russia to properly “authenticate users” and collaborate with the state in preventing DDoS attacks.

It is possible that FACEIT failed to comply with these conditions in Russia, and will have their ban active until they begin to comply with them.

Russia’s golden age of talent

Players like Daniil ‘donk’ Kryshkovets and Ilya ‘m0NESY’ Osipov are of Russian origins and came up through FACEIT.

The country is still a breeding ground for exceptional talent, boasting 6 of the 10 highest elo players on FACEIT Europe today. That includes talents like Kirill ‘magnojez’ Rodnov of BetBoom, and Vadim ‘tO0RO’ Arkov of Virtus.pro a bit further down the rankings.
